Peace Lily Care Made Easy
Water your Peace Lily when the top 2–4 cm (1–1.5 inches) of soil feels dry.
Use the finger test — if the soil feels dry at that depth, it’s time to water.
During the growing season (spring to early autumn), watering is usually needed every 7–10 days.
In winter, reduce watering to every 10–14 days, depending on indoor humidity and light.
Avoid overwatering — soggy soil can cause root rot and yellowing leaves, which are common issues.
Always use a pot with drainage holes and let excess water drain completely after watering.
Peace Lily thrives in bright, indirect light but also does well in low-light environments.
Ideal: Close to a north- or east-facing window, or in a room with filtered sunlight.
Tolerates: Low light and artificial lighting, though it may produce fewer flowers.
Avoid: Direct sunlight, especially strong midday rays, which can scorch its leaves.
Tip: Wipe the leaves occasionally to remove dust and maximize light absorption.
Feed your Peace Lily every 6–8 weeks during the growing season (spring to early autumn).
Use a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer diluted to half strength.
Avoid over-fertilizing, as it can cause brown leaf tips.
Skip feeding during winter, when the plant's growth naturally slows down.
Peace Lily - Spathiphyllum
Benefits
Peace Lily is known for its ability to purify indoor air by removing common toxins like formaldehyde, benzene, and carbon monoxide.
Its elegant white blooms and lush green foliage make it a soothing addition to any room.
Light
Peace Lily prefers low to medium indirect light and thrives in shaded indoor areas.
Ideal: A few feet away from a north- or east-facing window, or in diffused natural light.
Tolerates: Lower light better than most flowering plants.
Avoid: Harsh direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.
Tip: Rotate the plant occasionally to ensure even growth.
Water
Water your Peace Lily when the top 2–3 cm (around 1 inch) of soil feels dry.
Use the finger test to check soil moisture.
During active growth (October to May), water every 7–10 days.
In winter, reduce to every 2–3 weeks.
Avoid overwatering — Peace Lilies are prone to root rot.
Toxicity
Peace Lilies are toxic to pets and humans if ingested. They contain calcium oxalate crystals that can cause oral irritation, drooling, or stomach upset.
Keep the plant out of reach of cats, dogs, and small children.
Fertilizer
Feed your Peace Lily every 6–8 weeks during the growing season (October to May).
Use a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer at half strength.
No feeding is needed during winter dormancy.
Flush the soil occasionally to prevent salt buildup.
Additional Tips
- Cleaning: Wipe leaves gently with a damp cloth to remove dust and enhance photosynthesis.
- Pests: Check for aphids, mealybugs, or spider mites — treat early with insecticidal soap.
- Repotting: Repot every 1–2 years or when root-bound. Use a rich, well-draining soil mix.
- Humidity: Peace Lily loves high humidity — mist regularly or use a tray of water and pebbles.
